“拉美西斯和法老的黄金”埃及文物展将在巴黎举行

1703 - Sentence Translation

Sentence-1: In the United States, big shopping malls and major outlet centers are usually located in the suburbs. So it's best to have an automobile if you want to do any serious bargain shopping.

Sentence-2: From my perspective, homework often is a significant burden for both teachers and students. Reducing the amount of homework would create far more opportunities for direct interaction between students, parents, and teachers.

Sentence-3: The problem of funding remains urgent. Small business credit remains severely constricted. Unable to find credit, many small businesses have had to shut their doors, and some of the survivors are still struggling to find adequate financing.

Sentence-4: Credit cards have evolved since 1966, but the basic procedure of payment has remained the same. A card is either handed over, or the number on it is read out or entered into a machine.

Sentence-5: Oil prices have risen further following Wednesday's agreement by OPEC to cut output. The price of crude oil rose 4.5% to $54 a barrel, its highest level this year, after soaring 8.8% on Wednesday.

1703 - Passage Translation

Passage 1

Cambridge is one of the most important and beautiful towns not only in Britain, but also in Europe. The quality of its buildings, in particular those belonging to the University and the particular atmosphere with river and gardens have given the city a place of the itinerary of every visitor to this country. The University has influenced not only the architecture of the town, but also its character; its book shops are among the finest in the country. The frequency of the dramas and concerts and the wide range of restaurants reflect the tastes and interests of the academic population. As the visitor will undoubtedly begin his tour in the University buildings, let's describe those first.

Passage 2

It happens that the real success stories, those countries that we now call the developed economies, were the high-income economies or, the industrialized economies. Those countries represent only about one-sixth of humanity. And five-sixths of humanity is what we call the developing world. It's the vast majority of world. The gap can be 100 to one in some cases if you simply measure the gross national product per person in the United States versus, say, a country in Africa, maybe a gap of $30,000 per person and $300 per person. That's absolutely astounding, to be on the same planet and to have that extreme variation in material well-being.
